With the coming of 483th Jakarta Anniversary on 22 June, 2010, Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta, which has a strong tie with the history of Jakarta, will celebrate it by presenting a variety of authentic old Betawi food at Signatures Restaurant with "Betawi Food Promotion" from 21 - 23 June 2010


Hotel Indonesia Kempinski is organizing Betawi Food Promotion, through a series of special dishes from Betawi ranging from the famous Betawi bread "Roti Buaya" to hot and cold Betawi dishes. The promotion takes place at Signatures Restaurant at IDR 175,000,-++ for lunch and IDR 195,000++ for dinner including traditional drink of "Bir Pletok" and "Soda Gembira"

Sous Chef of Signatures Restaurant, Johan Kusnadi together with his culinary team have prepared exciting various selections of favorite Betawi recipes including "Laksa
Jakarta", Soto Betawi, Soto Mie, and Sop Buntut, as well as there are Nasi Uduk, Sayur Babanci, Pindang Tangkar, Gabus Pucung, Sayur Besan, Gulai Kambing, Semur Daging and Opor Ayam.

Not only hot dishes are available, but cold ones too are available, such as "Rujak Juhi", the dried squid salad with cucumber and yellow noodles, �Asinan Jakarta�, the assorted julienne vegetables with chili dressing, "Rujak Pengantin", the assorted fruit salad, plus there are also specialty stations for Gado-gado, Ketoprak, Kue Rangi and Kerak Telor. Last but not least there is the famous iconic Betawi bread called "Roti Buaya".

The origins of "Roti Buaya" (bread in crocodile shape) because of crocodile only
married once in their life. For Betawi people, the nature of the crocodile has a meaning that is an expression of loyalty to married couples. Therefore, usually at Betawi wedding ceremony, a pair of crocodile bread will always exist because of the bread as a symbol of loyalty in the marriage.
